I have always gotten a kick out of vintage photographs; I think it has something to do with the fact that back in the day, there weren't fancy settings on cameras to change the colors or distort the images, and you couldn't immediately look at a digital image of the picture to ask for a re-do. I'm not saying that multiple pictures weren't taken and then the best chosen for keeps, but there seems to exist a reality in many old photographs that you don't always see in modern photography. I follow The Sartorialist, who has been hosting a vintage photo contest on his blog; I took some of my favorites and posted them below.
